Curious George Takes On The Arts and Hispanic Hertiage Month

In my home we LOVE curious George, even I do! He is such a sweet little monkey.  Premiering Labor Day, September 5, 2011 the sixth season of Curious George will begin. This season George will Take on the Arts. It all begins with Auctioneer George and Sock Monkey Opera. We had the chance to view both of these and they are wonderful!!!

In Auctioneer George, George has a dollar to buy anything he wants at the Annual Corn Roast and Attic Auction. George wants a pair of red elephant mittens. After watching The Man in the Yellow Hat buy a traffic cone George is left with the auction paddle. He didn't realize how the bidding actually works and ends up buying his mittens for $100. George tries to re-auction while Marco searches the city for Mr. Glass, the only person who would ever buy red elephant gloves Watch this clip:.

I really loved Sock Monkey Opera. George goes to see Hansel and Gretel after his friend Betsy gets the chickenpox and can't go. George decides to cheer Betsy up by performing the opera that he enjoyed so much with his itchy friend. He has to figure out how one little monkey can perform all the signing and dancing for the entire cast. Here's a clip:

George also takes on Hispanic Heritage month (Sept 15-Oct 15) by re-airing shows that feature his friend Marco. These shows will re-air the week of September 19th. My children love watching the shows with Marco. We were also fortunate enough to receive a book entirely in Spanish. Jorge el Curioso is the original Curious George book translated into Spanish. It is a book that my children will cherish for years to come.
