New Counters with Giani Granite Paint

I HATE my counter tops! They are awful. Not to mention the fruit punch stain, but we don't discuss that. Of course all of that was before I found Ginai Granite Paint.

From Giani Granite Paint website:
Thomas & English, Inc. was founded by Floyd Thomas, Sr. - our current CEO's grandfather - and Bill English in 1959 as a Manufacturer's Rep firm.
The two men operated a 9,000 square foot warehouse and provided specialty raw materials to paint manufacturers in St. Louis, MO for 26 years.
In 1985 a change in ownership began an era of significant growth.  Eagle Specialty Products, Inc. began manufacturing pigment dispersions and specialty additives for paint companies nationwide.
Over time, the company became experts in dispersions for technical coatings for customers such as the US Navy.  Today, Eagle and its GIANI, Inc. subsidiary, has two hundred specialty pigment dispersions and has won awards for its unique kitchen coatings

TESTING Giani Granite Paint

I was sent the Sicilian Sand paint because I wanted a light color. It comes in Chocolate Brown, Roma Red, Bombay Black, Emerald Green, and Sapphire Blue as well. It kit with everything you need to paint your counter tops:
-12 Oz. of IronCoreTM Primer-Base Coat
     - 6 Oz. of Brown Feldspar Mineral

     - 6 Oz. of Inca Gold Mineral

     - 6 Oz. of White Limestone Mineral

     - 16 Oz. of Automotive Polyurethane Topcoat
     - 6" GIANITM roller arm and two roller pads
     - 4" GIANITM granite paint sponge
     - 2" Foam Brush
     - Black Practice Poster Board
       -
'Paint-by-Number' DVD for beginners
     - Illustrated Instructions

Base Coat

I began with the Primer-Base Coat which was easy to paint on, in sections and then you have to wait for it to dry which takes about 8 hours. I like that it goes on black so you can see what you are doing.

Next you just sponge on the other layers. I could control the darkness and depth of the look by simply making an adjustment to how heavily I sponged and more.

Before

When everything was done I had beautiful counter tops. My friends thought I had spent all that time and money that goes into granite counter tops when the truth is I didn't. It took me a day to get everything done.
