An Angel Named Carol by: John L. Hoh Jr.

Have you ever read a book that just resonates with you? That is what An Angel Named Carol did with me. While it is a children's book, it clearly has a message that everyone can recognize and understand. Carol is an angel who feels lonely when she first gets to heaven so she spends a lot of time by herself singing. All of the angels think she has a beautiful voice but they have a problem they are working on. The baby Jesus is being born soon and they are trying to plan something grand. The problem is what? Gabriel, the head angel, calls a meeting and all the angels (except Carol) discuss what they can do. the meeting isn't very successful so Gabriel tells the angles to think about it. Raphael and Shemuel leave the meeting and while walking hear Carol signing her song. Shemuel has an idea and they go to Gabriel. He loves their idea and approaches Carol. He wants to use Carol's song Glory to God in the Highest and have the angels sing it. However he wants Carol to lead them. she is not sure at first because she has trouble speaking to others. Gabriel convinces her and the concert is perfect. Carol is the reason we sing Christmas Carols.

John L. Hon Jr has written one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. Carol is different because she has trouble with her speech but it through that difference that she helps announce one of the greatest events in mankind history. what is not to love about that? Yes this is a bit Christmas oriented but the message is one for all season long "That being different and scared doesn't mean you can't contribute something special. That each of us are special in each of our own ways."
